TRI-LOBAL JOINT C.V. BOOT INSTALLATION

MODEL:       Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, GM, etc...

DESCRIPTION:

There are two types of inner joints called Tri-lobal Joint. One type is an Inside Tri-lobal Joint (outside shape is round) and the other is an Outside Tri-lobal Joint (the outside shape is a shape of a tulip or tripod). Those models having the outside Tri-lobal Joint (Toyota, Ford, GM ECT…), the OE boot can come in two different ways. Some boots will come in the shape with the same configuration of the tripod, joint on the larger end (one piece boot). The other type will look like a regular OE boot that will slip over a rubber insert that has been placed on the perimeter of the C.V. joint to make it round (two piece boot). Please reuse the separate rubber insert on the two piece boot when installing a FLEXX BOOT. The following is the installation instructions for the single piece boot used on the outside Tri-lobal joint:

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

1-       Step one: Before removing the inner C.V. boot, first cut the original C.V. boot on the perimeter edge of the C.V. joint (see Picture A). Do not damage that part of the original boot that has been inserted onto the tripod shape part of the outside perimeter of the C.V. joint. This part will have to be reused when installing the FLEXX BOOT.

2-       Step two: Remove both clamps and old C.V. boot (remember to leave the cut tripod shaped rubber insert on the C.V. joint for reuse in the FLEXX BOOT replacement installation). Clean outside C.V. joint and proceed with the boot installation using the Rapid Flexx Gun (see Picture B, C, D).

3-       Step three: After installing grease into the joint, install the FLEXX BOOT over the rubber insert and clamp the larger end. Proceed with remainder of installation (see Picture E, F).
